Customizing the best build in Elden Ring Nightreign is not just about having powerful armor and weapons, you also need to utilize Relics.
Relics allow you to add special abilities and buffs to your character before you head out for an Expedition. There are a plethora of Relics in the game and to help you understand how to get and then use Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign, I’ve put together this quick guide.
How to Get Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign
There are two primary ways to get Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign:
- Buy from Small Jar Bazaar NPC
- Play Expeditions
#1: Buy from Small Jar Bazaar NPC
The first way is to spend some Murk to get Relics from the NPC that runs the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold. The only thing you need to remember is that the NPC that runs the Small Jar Bazaar won’t be available until you complete the first Expedition boss, Tricephalos.
#2: Play Expeditions
The second method of getting Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign is by doing Expeditions. You don’t have to complete an Expedition to get Relics, all you have to do is play them and by end of everything you will get a certain amount of Relics regardless of how well you do.
How to Use and Equip Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign
From the Relics menu you will notice three colored slots below each class tab on the left-hand side of the screen. On the right-hand side you will see all the Relics that are currently available.
Every class that you have unlocked will allow you to equip Relics into those three slots but you have to keep in mind that they have to match the color of the slot. For instance a Relic with a red gem at its center can only be equipped in a red slot. The same rule applies to blue, green, and orange Relics.
You can also equip certain physical items as Relics, apart from the standard Relics. These are usually obtained by killing the final boss of an expedition. In the Relics menu, these items will have a small colored dot on their icon to indicate which slot they can go into. Each class in Nightreign has a different combination of Relic slot colors.
The Guardian class, for example, has one red and two orange slots, so you can equip one red and two orange Relics for that class. In contrast, the Wylder class features two red slots and one blue, opening up different Relic combinations and strategies.
You’re also free to use the same Relic across multiple classes. So long as the slot colors match, you can reuse powerful Relics, just because a Relic is equipped for one class it doesn’t mean it’s unavailable for another. If you’ve got a particularly strong red Relic, you can equip it on any class that supports red slots, making it a valuable asset across your roster.
You can hover over any Relic – whether it is equipped or not – to see the bonuses that it provides. Some bonuses are class-specific, but most are better suited to certain playstyles. For example, the “Night of the Beast” Relic, which you get after killing the first expedition boss, gives your starting weapon fire damage. This is a good fit for melee-based classes, but isn’t as good for the Recluse or Ironeye, who rely mostly on ranged attacks.
