If you don’t handle diseases in Frostpunk 2 then they become a huge problem in Frostpunk 2. If diseases spread you can end up losing your population and workforce, making the experience really difficult.
If people fail to work and get sick, they will continue to consume resources such as food and heat but you won’t be able to eventually match production with consumption needs.
The reduction of disease in Frostpunk 2 can be achieved through laws, research upgrades, building new structures or by sending out expeditions to Frostlands outposts which help lower sickness rates among your population.
I have found three great ways to reduce diseases in Frostpunk 2 so let’s get into it.
Using Laws to Reduce Diseases in Frostpunk 2
Begin by accessing the Council button which is at the bottom-left corner of your screen before moving to the City tab.

After entering the Council screen choose Contagion Prevention from the available options. The Contagion Prevention section contains two laws which help decrease disease spread in your city through Supported Quarantine and Infectious Badge.

The choice between these options depends on the amount of housing you currently have. The Supported Quarantine option provides better disease reduction but requires additional housing requirements when you have sufficient housing. The Infectious Badge system provides disease reduction at a lower level than other options while simultaneously increasing citizen tension.
The Infectious Badge served as my initial choice because it provided temporary infection reduction until we built more Hospitals which we will discuss in the following section.
The Society tab under Funerals contains Harvesting Funerals which proves to be an effective law for disease control. The two available options are Harvesting Funerals and Ceremonial Funerals.

The combination of faster research and reduced disease levels makes Harvesting Funerals a superior choice to Ceremonial Funerals.
All Recommended Laws that Reduce Disease
| Law Name | Council Tab | Description | Disease Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supported Quarantine | City → Contagion Prevention | Implements strict quarantine measures, requiring additional housing to isolate the sick. | Significantly decreases disease levels. |
| Infectious Badge | City → Contagion Prevention | Marks infected individuals, allowing for targeted containment but may increase societal tension. | Moderately decreases disease; increases tension. |
| Harvesting Funerals | Society → Funerals | Allows the use of deceased individuals for medical research, enhancing research speed. | Decreases disease; boosts research speed. |
| Conservative Treatment | Society → Treatment | Enforces traditional medical practices, requiring senior approval for procedures. | Slightly reduces disease. |
| Experimental Treatment | Society → Treatment | Encourages innovative medical procedures, unlocking medical trials. | Marginally reduces disease; slightly increases research speed. |
| Weather-Adjusted Shifts | City → Worker Shifts | Modifies work shifts based on weather conditions to minimize exposure. | Slightly decreases disease; slightly decreases production efficiency. |
| Alcohol Banned | City → Welfare | Prohibits alcohol consumption, aiming to improve public health. | Slightly decreases disease; slightly increases crime. |
Using Research and Buildings to Reduce Diseases in Frostpunk 2
In addition to laws you can also use Research and Buildings to lower diseases in Frostpunk 2. Go to the Ideas Tree and into the Society Tab. What we are looking for are hospitals and Treatment research to help us reduce diseases.

Research Hospitals and Treatment centers to start building them and lower diseases. Click on Buildings > Housing > Hospital from the menu to build a hostpital.
You need to place the Hospital within an expected Housing district to start lower diseases.

I suggest you build a Recovery Hospital as well to help with Population Growth. Lastly, research Experimental Treatment to increase research speed. You also go for Conservative Treatment which helps bring down disease faster but doesn’t speed up research.
