In games like The Alters there is always a need to store more items, get more resources, and build a bigger better base. The size of the base matters a lot to your progress in The Alters because it is basically a base building game.
If you’re looking to expand your base size in The Alters then there are 3 ways to increase you do it. The game gives you three upgrades for this and each expands your base size significantly.
However, to unlock base upgrades the player must increase the Qubit Level of their Quantum Computer. This unlocks new modules the player can install to get thing rolling.
How to Increase Base Size in The Alters
Find the Damaged Chip and craft it into Qubit Chip via the Workshop in The Alters. With the chip in hand go to the Quantum Computer and hold A/X to start the upgrade process.
You can find chips in every Act of the game. For example, the first Damaged Chip is in ACT 1 of The Alters, southwest of the player’s base. Look for a white case in the middle of ship debris.
The following are the three upgrades you can make to your Base to increase the size and add more modules to have more room for activities and facilities.

| Base Expansion II | Increases base size, providing more space for module construction. Also expands the Organics tank capacity to 450. |
| Base Expansion III | Further increases base size and raises the Organics tank capacity to 700. |
| Base Expansion IV | Expands the base even more and boosts the Organics tank capacity to 800. |
After increasing the Qubit Level go to the Research tab in the Quantum Computer to research Base Expansion options. But before you do this make you have a Scientist Alter in your team. Moreover, each base expansion is going to take 14 hours to complete in The Alters.
Lastly, Base Expansion 2 which is the first upgrade you can make to the base size, unlocks after Qubit Level 2. Get to level 2, unlock Base Expansion 2 and then keep increasing levels to expand the base size in The Alters.
