During your adventure in Grandery in Absolum, you will have the option to travel to the Old Mines just before the Underking boss fight. Here, you will also be met with a locked elevator right before the mines. The only way to get rid of this hindrance is to power up the furnace within the mines.
Powering it up doesn’t just complete a side puzzle it’s the key to unlocking the elevator that leads into the Deep Mines, an entirely new region packed with rare loot, tougher enemies, and valuable upgrade materials.
You need to first get access to the Old Mines section of Grandery which is automatically unlocked after you complete the region’s main quests. You can reach the area through the Misty Grove or by taking the alternate Old Mines route.
How to Power Up the Furnace and Unlock the Elevator
Make your way into the Old Mines to find the furnace near the Underking boss fight area. If you don’t find it in this area, you might to visit here a few times.
Break the doors of the furnace. Jumping inside might cost you a part of your HP, so look out for that. The doors won’t close until you have charged the furnace up.
Now, just throw or push some enemies into the flame. Keep doing it until the furnace is fully powered. You can check the furnace progress on the left side of your screen.
Once done, you will receive a prompt, and the connected machinery in the background will start working again.
Once the furnace is at full power, you’ll receive an on-screen prompt. Machinery hums and gears grind as the elevator activates. Returning to the entrance reveals that the shaft is fully operational, marked clearly on your map for future runs.
Boarding the elevator completes the associated quest and grants access to a brand-new area known as the Deep Mines. Inside the Deep Mines you can collect Shards and Rare loot chests.
