Cheats is Age of Empires 4 are limited because the developers wanted to restrict the use. But you can still use some really game breaking cheat codes and console commands in AoE4.

If you want to use cheat codes in AoE4, you need to activate them first. To use cheats in AoE 4 you need to start a custom game, campaign mission, or a skirmish against AI. Each mode has its own cheat codes.

In the Game Mode window, check the “Cheats Allowed” box.

If you are on campaign mode, you can enable cheats by selecting “Cheats” option in the same window.

Press Enter when you are in the game to open the chat window and type any of the following cheat codes (for its relevant game mode) in lowercase letters.

How to Change Age of Empires 4 Campaign Speed

If you want to speed up or slow down the speed of Age of Empires campaign (you can only do this with the campaign mode) then you can use the following cheat codes. I don’t recommend using these but if you do than keep an eye on the trade routes as they tend to get messed up a little.
