The ongoing AI crisis has seen NAND and DRAM prices swiftly rising across the board. This shift in the industry has also led to manufacturers facing supply constraints and volatility when attempting to secure key components for various products.
While the impacts of the shortages have mostly been limited to memory and SSD pricing for now, Asus confirms that prices will rise starting in January.
In a new letter (shared by DigiTimes), Asus informed its partners of incoming price hikes in the AI-driven era. The company pointed to challenges in operational planning due to demand in the PC and IT markets. In particular, it states that DRAM, NAND, and SSD prices have faced continued pressure due to supply constraints.
The letter confirms that these changes will lead to strategic pricing adjustments for certain product combinations. Although Asus did not specify which products would be impacted by the changes, it’s safe to assume that the likes of GPUs and laptops will be severely impacted.
“Asus plans to implement strategic price adjustments for certain product combinations starting January 5, 2026.”
The price hikes will come ahead of CES 2025. Asus is all set to debut new products at the event in just one week, so the new products will likely be shown off with the adjusted pricing structure. This means that it would be a wise decision to pull the trigger on potential purchases in this segment before CES.
Following Asus, other manufacturers are expected to follow suit and raise prices across the board. It’s only a matter of time before they also make similar announcements about their upcoming product lineups.
