The Witcher 4 could prove to be a turning point for CDPR, bringing together the goodwill established by the studio’s work on redeeming Cyberpunk 2077 and the many accolades earned by The Witcher 3.
Needless to say, this sequel to The Witcher 3 is a highly ambitious undertaking for the studio, marking a shift to Unreal Engine 5 and a huge investment in an all-new trilogy featuring Ciri, the new lead of the franchise. Quite surprisingly, an analyst has even estimated a budget close to $1 billion for The Witcher 4.

In a recent report, Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski (via Strefa Inwestorow) shared his thoughts on the production and shipping costs for The Witcher 4. For context, the same analyst has discussed an upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3, which should speak for the analyst’s credibility in the near future.
As per Mateusz Chrzanowski, The Witcher 4 will likely cost around PLN 1.4 billion to make. Converting to US Dollars, this amount comes out to around $388 million. The analyst also states that PLN 1.4 billion is likely to be spent on marketing for The Witcher 4, effectively doubling the $388 million figure.
Taking Mateusz Chrzanowski’s estimate at face value, The Witcher 4 could cost around $776 million for CDPR in total. As a reminder, The Witcher 3 cost $81 million when it launched in 2015, making the analyst’s estimate for The Witcher 4 a nearly 10x uplift over the last game’s budget.
While shocking, this sudden jump does make sense when considering the rising costs of AAA development. It is also important to note that the core Witcher 3 team consisted of 240 people, while The Witcher 4 already had 447 developers on the project as of October 31, 2025.
Moreover, the team has invested significantly in enhancing the technology powering The Witcher 4, leading to costs going up further.
Going by the analyst’s predictions, The Witcher 4 could somewhat rival the cost of major games like GTA 6. Although figures as high as $2 billion have been discussed in relation to Rockstar Games’ next title, a nearly $1 billion budget for a single-player RPG like The Witcher 4 is not to be taken lightly either.
