What better way is there to get unique rewards other than helping vendors in ARC Raiders? During the Unexpected Initiatives quest, you need to find three items. Finding Lemon Trees will trouble you the most.
Lemons are among the trickier items because they spawn on natural fruit-trees rather than in obvious loot crates. While going on a fruit run to get lemons it is best to use a free loadout. This will minimize loss if you die or lose extraction. Make sure to equip a Safe Pocket to store rare items so they don’t get lost if your character dies or loses extraction.
Lastly, check for “Lush Blooms” world modifier: When active, spawn rates for nature-items (lemons, apricots, mushrooms) increase significantly.
The Outer Worlds 2 Lemon Locations
Below, I have explained where to get all 3 items required for the Unexpected Initiatives quest.
Lemon Location #1 (Olive Grove on the Blue Gate map)
One lemon can be found on the Blue Gate map at the Olive Grove section. This is one of the top locations where you can find lemons in ARC Raiders. There are clusters of fruit trees where you can collect lemons and apricots.
Lemon Trees are pretty rare to find, so let’s look at some places where you can find them. Specifically, the southern side of Blue Gate, near Farmlands / nature-tagged regions. Walk to the trees, pick up fruit on the ground, and/or “interact” with (kick) trees to drop more.
Lemon Location #2 (South Swamp Outpost on the Dam Battlegrounds map)
Another location where you can farm lemons is in the “Hydroponic Dome Complex” or nearby nature/vegetation zones. This is a quite area and usually not many players go there so might be easier to collect lemons here. Investigate the vegetation clusters near the swamp and you should be able to quickly farm a ton of lemons in ARC Raiders.
Lemon Location #3 (Spaceport map – Staff Parking / orchard-areas)
Some fruit trees with lemons appear in the Staff Parking area of the Spaceport map. It is a less obvious location, so there is less competition here over resources. I recommend that you use this location as a backup if competition is high at other locations on the map.
Now that we have lemons, we can move on to the next 2 objects required for the Unexpected Initiatives Quest.
How to Find a Water Filter and a Water Pump in ARC Raiders
These two items are easier to find as compared to lemons. Both of them can be found within the Dam Battlegrounds map. To find Water Pumps, visit any industrial buildings and keep scavenging and looting cabinets, crates, and shelves to eventually get one.
Head inside the Primary Facility east of the Water Treatment Facility POI. Go to the northern section of the facility, towards the Supply Call Station. You will find an underground entrance. Take the ladder down, and you will find the Water Filter on top of the cabinet on your right.
Now that we have all three items, visit Tian Wen and hand over the items to them. After that, the Unexpected Initiatives Quest will come to an end, rewarding you with the following items:
- 1x Osprey I
- 28,000 XP
