Back in 2022, Ubisoft announced multiple Assassin’s Creed titles for its future lineup. These included Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Mirage, both of which have now been released. However, the studio also revealed Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
This title is shaping up to be the most unique addition to the franchise in the last few years, taking Assassin’s Creed to the 16th century with themes of witchcraft. New information from LinkedIn also shows that Ubisoft has been working on this particular game for over 5 years now.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is the next mainline entry for the series after Assassin’s Creed Shadows and is being led by Ubisoft Montreal. A developer’s profile from the studio confirms that the team has been working on the title since November 2020.
This means that Ubisoft Montreal has already invested more than 5 years into the project. Until recently, Assassin’s Creed Hexe was rumored to launch at some point in 2026, but because Black Flag Remake is also expected to show up next year, this entry could be pushed back to 2027.
This means that by the time this title launches, it will have been in development for around 6-7 years. The game’s announcement trailer is also three years old already, so the team has certainly taken its time with the project.
This development timeline is noteworthy because Assassin’s Creed Hexe is said to be more linear compared to the RPG trilogy. Because Ubisoft has also struggled financially in recent years, this is certainly good news for what could be one of the most important releases of the series to date.
