In Avowed, there are 12 treasure maps, with three spread each in Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks.

Each of the treasure map missions comes with unique rewards that can impact your performance in the game.

The Dead Man’s Mail treasure map quest in Avowed comes shortly after the players enter the Shatterscarp region.

The quest sends you looking for a specific ruin in the Shatterscarp region, a desert on the southern coast of the Living Lands.

The mission gets more challenging as there are plenty of ruins in the desert, and Shatterscarp is quite bigger than the previous regions like Dawnshore.

To make sure that you don’t wander in the ruins of Shatterscarp, this guide is here to help.

It explains the location of the map, how to solve the clues, and what rewards you get at the end. Make sure you have three lockpicks before you start this quest. The lockpicks can be purchased from merchants, looted from enemies, and found in chests and backpacks.

Dead Man’s Mail Treasure Map

The Dead Man Mail’s treasure map has a rather tricky location. It is easier to miss, so you need to be quite specific while looking for it.

Go to the eastern part of Shatterscarp and arrive at the top of the “S” in the word “Sea” of “Great Sand Sea” on the map screen.

The camp is quite near to a group of Dreamthralls. So, it is better to stay near to the tents and avoid alerting the enemies.

The quickest way to reach the tent’s location is to travel east from Thirdborn. On your way, you will also find the Strangled Adra location.

This is quite helpful to clear the region’s Strangled Adra and get some fantastic bonus abilities. These Adra are not part of any specific mission.

When you are at this location, you will see a tent with a skeleton inside. You will get the treasure map after looting the skeleton.

Dead Man’s Mail Location Solution

The treasure map you just acquired shows a picture of an under-construction area with a crane.

It matches the description of the Shark’s Teeth area in the Shatterscarp region. You will also have to travel to this area for Avowed’s “Face Your Fears” main quest and “Don’t Look Down” side quest.

The Shark’s Teeth area is located south of the Ruined Village and northeast of Tago’s Tower.

Dead Man’s Mail Treasure Map solution

The position Dead Man’s Mail treasure map reveals is at the center of an open space full of skeleton warriors and powerful ghosts on the left.

Instead of alerting these powerful enemies, quietly go south towards the Tago’s Tower, and you will see a collapsed pillar on your right. Climb up this tower to reach the upper portion of the structure.

Walk along the castle walls, take a left, and you’ll see your reward. Use lockpicks to open the chest and find your reward inside.

Dead Man’s Mail Reward

Upon opening the chest, you will get the Necropants as a reward. Here is everything you need to know about this Medium Armor in Avowed.

Necropants Stats

  • Damage reduction: +15
  • Additional Damage Reduction: +39
  • Maximum Stamina: -25
  • Maximum Essence: -35

Necropants Enchantments

  • Spectral Slave: Lets you summon a spectre to fight with you
  • Poison-Proofed: Gives a +30 resistance to poison accumulation

The Spectral Slave enchantment is an excellent ability to have. Summons distract enemies while you can move unnoticed.

Moreover, if you sold your body to Elia in Emerald Stair, you can also summon a revenant with the spectre by using the Revenant Collar’s skill.

A +30 poison resistance will come in very handy as the game progresses due to the excess of Dreamthrall enemies.
