Ilora is one of the prisoners you will find locked up inside Fort Northreach. She is a great fighter and freeing her or not will determine which side she ends up on in Avowed.

Yes, this choice in the game actually has an impact. There are consequences to freeing her or keeping her locked up.

Should You Free Ilora in Avowed

The short answer is yes, you should 100% free Ilora from the Fort Northreach prisons. When you free her she will join you in the fight and actually proves to be very helpful.

She follows you around the tutorial islands and clears out enemies for you. So, I recommend finding the key to her cell and taking her out of there.

But if you don’t? Well, if you don’t then all that combat prowess she has comes after you.

Ilora will eventually be free and come after you during the final boss fight in Forth Northreach. This makes the final boss fight so much harder than it needs to be. Because then you will be facing two enemies instead of one.

So, while there is no downside to freeing Ilora, there is a downside to not freeing her.

She also makes another appearance later during the Escape Plan side-quest, offering support, which serves to maintain a continuity through your playthrough.

Is There Any Reason to Not Free Ilora?

Yes, if you want to loot her pistol.

If you choose to abandon her, Ilora will escape and then assault you during the Steadman Ralke showdown, making you kill her, whereupon you may loot her regular pistol if you so desire.
