In this guide, we will explain everything you need to know about the Painter’s Regret treasure map in Avowed. It is one of the first treasure maps in the game, found in the Emerald Stair region of Avowed.
The quest is potentially a very dangerous one, but you can avoid the dangers and reach the reward safely and rather quickly.
You won’t face any problems while getting the map, but the reward location is surrounded by a group of enemies. However, the path we discuss in this guide is free from all such dangers.

Painter’s Regret Location in Avowed
To pick up the treasure map, go to the painter’s house located between the Farmer’s Market and Elia’s Revenant Farm in the southwest of Maxim’s Claim.
The players are already familiar with Elia’s Revenant Farm, as this is the region they travel when they first enter the Emerald Stair.
The door to the farmhouse is open.
When you enter the building, follow the porch on your right side and enter the room without a door and take the map.
Painter’s Regret Map Solution
The map location shows a waterfall and a bridge in the dangerous area of Woodlands in the Emerald Stairs region, west of the town of Fior Mes Iverno. If you go through the path next to the Rootbound Ruins, you’ll have to face a lot of enemies.
Instead, you can travel to the River Fork Beacon on the west of Fior Mes Iverno. When you are facing north, you will find an opening in the rocks.
The waterfall will be on your right. Walk towards the left of the waterfall and climb up the rocks. You will see a camp with an easel and a glowing treasure. That’s your reward: the Painter’s Brush trinket.
Painter’s Regret Reward
The Painter’s Brush doesn’t come with any stat boosts or item bonuses, but it does give you a +5% critical hit rate.
It isn’t something that you’ll miss while playing but it comes in handy during the critical hits. It works really well with the Gloves of the Strangler specifically, but it also works with any build and is an excellent way to increase your chance of dealing damage to enemies.
To equip it, go to inventory and load the Accessories section. Look for the Painter’s Brush and select it. Please note that in Avowed you can only wear one trinket (earring) and two rings. So pick the ones that you think are the best as per your playing style.
