Unlike Civilization 7, Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed does come with Steam Cloud support but as with any other RPG, it is best to back up your save files manually to avoid issues.
The save files for Avowed are inside the C Drive on Windows PCs. Whether you are playing on Steam or Battle. Net, the location is inside C.

Alternately, you can access the save files by running the following command in Windows Run or File Explorer:

Copy the entire folder in .sav format and save it wherever you like. If something goes wrong with the original, replace the copy folder to restore your progress.
