Not only does it enhance your survivability and defensive capabilities, but its passive perks also reward careful, stagger-focused combat.

According to the game’s lore, the armor is crafted from the remnants of a restless soul, a curse set that “defies death.” Sounds cool, right? It really is and with upgrades it can even work well in mid to late game.
How to Get the Armor of the Undying in Ghost of Yotei
The first requirement to getting is armor is completing the “Road to Ishikari Plain” main quest. The second requirement to getting this armor set is completing the Undying Samurai quest. Go to Storyteller’s Rest in Ishikari Plain and collect 4 Bell Chimes.
The storyteller is named Ugestru and you can find him by word of mouth or by going to the flower icon as shown in the image below.
His exact location is north of Nakagoya Spring.
Interact with him to start the Undying Samurai quest where you have to find 4 Bell Chimes.
Bell Chime Location #1
The first location is part of the quest itself. The camera will point directly at it after your conversation with Ugetsu. However, there is a bear waiting at the location so you will have to take it down.
Bell Chime Location #2
The wind will guide you to the next bell chime. Swipe up on the trackpad and follow the wind. It will lead you south of the first bell chime.
Bell Chime Location #3
The third bell chime is west of the second bell chime but far away. Use your horse to reach the location by simply following the wind. Swipe up on the trackpad to get directions. The wind will lead you to the west toward a cliff where a body is hanging from the tree.
Hold R2 when prompted near the edge of the cliff to cut him loose from the tree. The body will drop so you’ll have to climb down to retrieve the Bell Chime.
Bell Chime Location #4
Now head north of the third chime, keep using the trackpad to summon wind to guide you. The fourth chime is near the edge of the Rumoi River.
Along the river you will find a Ronin looting a dead body. Take him down and loot his body to get the final chime.
What To Do With The Bell Chimes
Once you have all the bell chime use the wind as it will guide you west of the fourth chine, on a cliff. Go down the cliff and into a cave. Keep following the path on the higher ledges, looting chests along the way and squeezing through walls to reach the lair of the Undying Samurai.
Place the four bell chimes on the wooden polls you see in the lair to summon the Undying Samurai. Take him down to get the Armor of the Undying set.
