I started Mortal Kombat 1 as a long time Tekken player and immediately got my butt kicked. I wasn’t good at the game but what I am good at is figuring out what’s the best graphics settings for getting my butt kicked in Mortal Kombat 1 (just like I did with Shadow of the Erdtree settings).
Running Mortal Kombat 1 on Asus ROG Ally at a decent frame rate with good graphics is hard because the game isn’t most optimized for the handheld. Moreover, it really drains the battery so most of the time I ended up playing Mortal Kombat 1 while connected to the power supply.
And while I am not sure how these settings will translate into Asus ROG Ally X, I’m sure they’ll do better on Ally X instead of Ally because the hardware is more powerful, and battery is a lot better.
Asus ROG Ally: Best Graphics Settings for Mortal Kombat 1
My goal while doing testing with the graphics settings was to hit a stable 60fps and I’ve come to the conclusion that the best performance happens at low 1080p with FSR 2.0 Ultra performance.
You can get a pretty consistent 60fps with these settings, but you have to keep your TDP at 30w.
There are alternatives to this which I am going share below but if your goal is a good frame rate for better multiplayer matches, then go with these settings as there is no better way.
If you don’t want to go with low 1080p FPS 2.0 ultra performance, then here’s what else you can try that works equally better but with slightly better battery performance.
Set to Low. This is crucial for maintaining a stable frame rate, especially given the game’s demanding nature. For the best performance, play at 720p. This resolution allows the game to run more smoothly
Use FSR 2 at Quality mode. This setting helps improve performance without drastically sacrificing visual fidelity.
Alternatively, for a performance boost, you can switch to Ultra Performance, but this may result in lower graphical quality.
Turn V-Sync off and set to 4x and texture quality to medium.
You’ll still be able to maintain 60fps with these settings.
Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Not Working on Asus ROG Ally
There are some common issues with Mortal Kombat 1 and all of them lead back to poor optimization.
If you encounter crashes, try rebooting the device and closing unnecessary applications to free up RAM to fix the memory management issue.
Lastly, if the controls stop responding create a custom profile in the Armory Crate software to map the gamepad buttons correctly.
