Ubisoft’s latest update has come as a major shock to the industry. In addition to the cancellation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and various other internal projects, the studio has effectively undergone a major restructuring.

This also means that other projects like the Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake have been pushed back, but one game has surprisingly remained relatively unimpacted. New reports suggest Ubisoft is still working on Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

This report comes from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who states that Beyond Good and Evil 2 has survived Ubisoft’s latest purge.

This does make sense, considering Ubisoft was still hiring for the project as of late last year, and the team has had no shortage of opportunities to move on from this specific project. Moreover, it was also said that Beyond Good and Evil 2 was still in Limbo as of a few months ago.

As a recap, the game was first announced all the way back in 2008, and its last major appearance was all the way back in 2017. In 2020, Ubisoft claimed to have passed a major development milestone for the project, but it also saw the loss of Michael Ancel, the creator of the series.

Regardless, the game is still likely several years away from its release, but the team seems to have faith in the project.

Moving forward, Ubisoft is prioritizing a greater level of quality for its biggest titles. For better or for worse, this new direction could determine the fate of Beyond Good and Evil 2, and if recent announcements have proven anything, it’s that no project is guaranteed to be safe from the French publisher’s ruthless restructuring plans.
