Confirmed Fix for Borderlands 4 High CPU Utilization on PC
While it is good that the game is utilizing multiple cores of your processor, but when a game uses 100% of them it creates a GPU bottleneck. This is becasue the CPU does not have any room to schedule tasks for the GPU, which lowers the GPU usage and with it, the FPS drops. This is that Borderlands 4 players on PC are experiencing.
To fix the high CPU usage in Borderlands 4, you need to run a ClearPSODriverCache command through the Steam Launch Options. Multiple reports confirm that running this command once, fixes the 100% CPU usage issue in Boderlands 4. Here is how you can apply the fix:
- Close the game.
- Right-click Borderlands 4 in your Steam library and click the “properties” option.
- Under “Launch options” type -ClearPSODriverCache and close the Window.
- Launch Borderlands 4, play the game, and the CPU usage will be normal.
- Once you close the game, remove the -ClearPSODriverCache command from Steam Launch Options. You don’t need to run it the second time.
- Play Borderlands 4 and the high CPU usage issue is now fixed permenantly.
