Compulsion Games has been part of Xbox’s first-party studios for over five years now, and the team has already released two major titles since its acquisition. The studio most recently released South of Midnight, and it seems to have now moved on to a new project.
According to a LinkedIn post via Compulsion Games’ Joe Palin, the studio is currently hiring developers for its next game.

The LinkedIn post reveals that the team is seeking to hire developers in roles like Lead Gameplay Programmer and Engine Programmer.
Moreover, the job ad confirms that the team is working on a brand new project, which is said to be a completely new IP. The Talent Lead describes this project as both “fascinating and intriguing,” which is largely on brand for Compulsion Games’ interesting games.

As for the job listings themselves, they don’t reveal much else about the game. However, the requirements for the Senior Engine Programmer suggest the team is sticking with Unreal Engine for the title. As a reminder, Compulsion Games used the same engine for South of Midnight.
However, since South of Midnight seemed to be using Unreal Engine 4, the studio may make the switch to Unreal Engine 5 for its new IP.
Last year, South of Midnight achieved over 1 million within a month of its release. This was considered a solid milestone for a title with a relatively niche appeal, and the game also received praise for its art style and stop-motion animation.
Following this release, it will certainly be interesting to see what the developers at Compulsion Games have in store for audiences next.
