Crimson Desert is showing all the signs of a huge commercial success so far, but the game divided more than a few gamers at launch. Indeed, many found themselves split over the tanky controls, extremely slow start, and not-so-great narrative.

This became evident in the Steam reviews, which initially started out as “Mixed.” However, over the last few days, these reviews have improved consistently, and Pearl Abyss’ title has just hit the “Very Positive” rating today.

Crimson Desert Steam Reviews Mostly Positive

Crimson Desert now has over 23K English reviews on Steam, and with each passing day, more and more of these reviews have become positive. For context, the “Very Positive” rating on Steam came after 80% of the reviews became positive.

Pearl Abyss’ single-player title has hit this milestone rather quickly, considering it only just reached the “Mostly Positive” rating a few days ago. Going over the Steam review section, it’s also interesting to see that negative reviews are now in the minority on the first page.

Most reviewers have encouraging words to share regarding Crimson Desert, and Steam shows that they have already put in anywhere from 10 to 30 hours into the title. Looking at the reviews, the title’s adventurous side seems to have finally clicked with many gamers who have praised the sense of wonder littered throughout Pywel.

Some have also commended the team for its first patch, which overhauled the controls and therefore addressed a major community criticism.

Earlier today, Pearl Abyss also confirmed that the title has officially sold over 3 million units as of today. This sales update, in addition to the improving reviews, shows that the team is headed in the right direction.

However, the team is currently dedicated to improving the experience further. Pearl Abyss has confirmed that support for Intel Arc GPUs is in the works, and the AI-generated assets spotted in the game are currently being replaced.
