Crimson Desert’s release has millions excited for what could end up being one of the best-received releases of the year. Between the promise of endless adventures, a deep combat system, and a lot more, Crimson Desert has captured practically everyone’s attention recently.

The game has also earned plenty of praise already for its optimization, which, as many claim, already puts it head and shoulders above most PC titles in recent years. However, a recent update on Steam shows that the game has just been updated to include Denuvo DRM.

Crimson Desert Denuvo PC

Crimson Desert’s update history on SteamDB shows that the game has been updated with Denuvo Anti-tamper DRM today. In fact, the DRM was added to the game just 3 hours ago.

Previously, many had the impression that the game would launch without any sort of DRM on PC. Of course, it’s not uncommon to see games adding Denuvo a few days before launch, but this update has led to growing concerns regarding the title’s performance on PC.

In the past, many have accused Denuvo of hampering performance on PC. Games have also been review-bombed due to this DRM, so it is interesting to see Crimson Desert adding this DRM for protection a week before the official release on 19 March.

The silver lining in this situation is that a recently released game like Resident Evil Requiem, which was lauded for its performance on PC, also came with Denuvo DRM. If Resident Evil Requiem can deliver solid results with this protection in place, so can Crimson Desert.

However, players are not too happy with the sudden addition of this DRM, with many on the Steam Community Hub already criticizing this inclusion.
