Cyberpunk 2077 continues to be a major source of revenue for CDPR several years after its release. Despite a rocky launch and a troublesome road to redemption, the game has now sold 35 million units. CDPR is also hard at work on the sequel already. In fact, CDPR’s current financial report reveals that over 130 developers are already working on Cyberpunk 2.

Moreover, the team aims to have over 300 developers on the sequel by 2026.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

In its latest earnings report, CDPR has shared a graph highlighting how it plans to scale up the Warsaw & Vancouver and Boston teams to work on ‘Cyberpunk 2.’

The studio’s graph shows that CDPR wants 200 developers from Warsaw & Vancouver and a total of 100+ developers from the Boston team working on the RPG. In total, the studio effectively hopes to double its development efforts as it heads into the next year.

The graph also highlights plans for 2027, suggesting that a total of 500+ developers will be busy with the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel two years from now if things go according to plan. This likely means that The Witcher 4’s development will be completed by 2027.

Previously, the studio stated that The Witcher 4 would not launch before 2027, so past statements seem to line up with the data from the above graph. Nonetheless, the upcoming years will certainly be very exciting for fans of CDPR’s work on Cyberpunk 2077.

The big question is how long CDPR will take to develop Cyberpunk 2. If history is anything to go by, the game won’t be available before 2030. However, because the predecessor launched in such a poor state, the sequel might take even longer as CDPR attempts to make the most polished version of the RPG possible.
