The God of War franchise has been the center of attention recently. Following the announcement of the remake trilogy based on the Greek titles and God of War: Sons of Sparta, fans are more excited than ever for what comes next.
Amid the excitement, many were also led to believe that Santa Monica’s very next project would be yet another God of War title, following up on the Norse saga. However, it seems this will not be the case.

According to Christopher Judge’s latest tweet, the voice actor is currently excited to share updates on his future projects in the summer. However, the social media post suggests that these projects will not necessarily be related to Sony Santa Monica or God of War.
Making matters more interesting, a reliable leaker on Resetera has suggested that Sony Santa Monica’s next game will not be related to God of War. Replying to a comment noting that the time is now right for a new mainline God of War entry, insider Ashhong recommended fans don’t hold their breath.
“As much as I would love that everything I do in the future would involve SSM and GOW, I have other projects that I am excited about.” – Christopher Judge
The most interesting part about these rumors is that information regarding an Egyptian God of War title has been making the rounds for a while, and from trusted sources at that. This might mean that Sony Santa Monica might still be working on a new mainline God of War title, but this game isn’t next in the pipeline.
Cory Barlog, the director behind 2018’s Norse soft reboot of the series, is also said to be working on his own original IP. Perhaps this project is being prioritized at the studio for now, with an incoming reveal set for sometime later this year.
