The Devil May Cry series continues to be one of gaming’s most influential IPs to date, particularly within the action games genre. In fact, Devil May Cry is among Capcom’s most successful ongoing franchises, with the fifth mainline entry being the best-selling title of the series.
Capcom has also given the series a notable anime adaptation, which led to a small resurgence earlier this year. According to the publisher, this adaptation led to over 1 million sales for Devil May Cry 5 within a month.

According to Capcom’s latest annual report, Devil May Cry 5 saw a major surge in sales when the anime aired in April 2025. The Japanese publisher used this opportunity to discount the game to $7.99, leading to sales of more than 1 million units within 30 days.
This is significant since the series’ latest release had stagnated over the years, and Capcom had done little to reignite interest in the franchise until recently. Although the Netflix anime itself proved to be quite divisive, it certainly led to gamers showing heightened interest in the franchise.
In fact, it could be argued that many gravitated toward the games due to the controversial opinions regarding the anime. Many fans of the series even urged newcomers to give older titles like Devil May Cry 1 and 3 a chance to learn more about the origins of this series.
Capcom states that this phenomenon showed just how much potential crossovers between games and movies hold today. Therefore, a new season of the Netflix Devil May Cry adaptation has already been confirmed, and the Japanese studio will likely pursue similar adaptations for its other IPs.
In other news, Capcom has hinted at future entries for the series in the same report. The studio has even suggested that a future entry could entail a remake of one of the classic titles from many years ago.
