PlayStation’s DualSense has received a lot of praise over the five years it has been on the market. In particular, many gamers appreciate its ergonomics, haptic triggers, and more, but battery life continues to be a major point of contention for the controller since day one.
It’s good news, then, that the latest revision seems to be addressing this issue. According to reports, the latest revision of Sony’s PS5 controller achieves better battery life.

As per modder and controller technician Modyfikator89, the CFI-ZCT2W DualSense variant offers better battery life than all other variants.
It is said that battery life has been boosted thanks to the removal of components like the secondary mic, in addition to further electronics optimization within the internals. The modder notes that all the latest PS5 Pro bundles with the CFI-7121 console variant already ship with this controller.
Elsewhere, the same controller is included in the CFI-2116 consoles within the PS5 Slim bundle. Separate controllers with these changes can also be found out in the wild, with White colored variants already being sold in various countries like Poland.
Unfortunately, the updated internals do nothing to address the prevalent stick drift problems. Rumors suggest that another big revision of the DualSense is on the way, so PlayStation users hope that Sony will use higher-quality analogue sticks with this variant.
The V3 DualSense is also said to ship with a removable battery, but it’s advised to take the rumors of the V3 DualSense with a grain of salt for now.
The modder has confirmed that he will run further tests to verify just how big an improvement Sony’s latest controller offers in terms of battery life. Therefore, for those hoping to pick up any of Sony’s recently released special edition or standard controllers for their consoles, it may be worth keeping an eye out for the model number if battery life is a major concern.
