Bethesda is slowly making progress on The Elder Scrolls 6, but fans have heard little of the RPG since its initial announcement. In fact, there has been more discussion regarding Skyrim than The Elder Scrolls 6 this year, as fans continue to anticipate what comes next for the franchise.

A new trailer was also released for Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2, and many are convinced Bethesda has hidden a small teaser for The Elder Scrolls 6 within this trailer.

At one point in the trailer, the classic Skyrim level progress bar shows up, with the text ‘Speech Increased’ hovering above it. The trailer shows this speech statistic being increased to 27, while the level progress displays the number 20 below it.

Looking at this particular moment in the trailer more carefully, the numbers seem to form 2027 when lined up better. Fans believe this is no coincidence and may be a small teaser from Bethesda to celebrate the holidays ahead of the next year. As such, it is being speculated that The Elder Scrolls 6 will launch at some point in 2027.

Of course, there’s no guarantee The Elder Scrolls 6 will launch within the next two years. Bethesda typically takes its time making its massive RPGs, but Starfield is also two years old at this point, so it would not be all too shocking if The Elder Scrolls 6 did indeed arrive around 2027.

The Elder Scrolls 6

Making matters more interesting, The Witcher 4 is expected to launch around the same year. If the stars align, the gaming world could witness the clash of two RPG titans, making for an incredible time for those invested in the RPG genre.

As the follow-up to Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls 6 has big shoes to fill. Skyrim remains Bethesda’s most iconic title to date, so anticipation for its sequel is incredibly high, and Bethesda is well aware that this is the case. With lofty ambitions and a high bar to live up to, the team is steadily moving forward with development as it prepares for what could be one of gaming’s most iconic RPGs in the coming year.
