Enshrouded is a light survival action RPG that provides a vast open world for the players to explore. However, the game doesn’t seem to be well optimized, as several PC users are experiencing startup crashes, in-game stuttering and performance issues. Tried everything but still couldn’t solve the problem? Don’t worry, as in this Enshrouded guide, I will take you through how to fix in-game stuttering and performance issues on your Windows PC.
Enshrouded Stuttering and Performance Issues Fixed on PC
After digging through some fixes, I found 2 fixes. Several Enshrouded players have tested these fixes and will definitely fix the stuttering on your PC. Let’s take a look at what to do.
Fix #1: Tweak Core Affinity for Enshrouded
There are some changes you will need to make in your Task Manager after launching Enshrouded to fix the in-game stuttering and potentially get a performance boost. Follow my lead:
- Launch Enshrouded and open your Task Manager.
- Go to the Details tab.
- Right-click Enshrouded and then click on Set Affinity.
- Check every EVEN number core and uncheck every odd number core.
- Now, just press OK, and the in-game stuttering of Enshrouded will be gone.
Well, I hate to break it to you guys, but this fix is temporary, and you will have to do it every time you launch the game. This fix may not work for everyone, so we can only wait until the developers come up with a proper solution..
Fix #2: Clear Nvidia Shader Cache
Clearing the shader cache can give a decent performance boost and fix the Enshrouded stuttering issue on your PC. Aside from just Enshrouded, it can also help run other games smoothly and fix several visual bugs. Follow these steps:
- Open the Nvidia Control Panel and head to Manage 3D Settings.
- Turn OFF Shader Cache, save, and apply the changes.
- Reboot your PC, and after that, open the Run dialog box or the File Explorer.
- Type the following environment variable into the Run dialog box or the File Explorer address bar and hit Enter: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local.
- At this location, locate the “Nvidia” folder and open it.
- Here, find and open both the “DXCache” and the “GLCache” folders and delete all the items in the folders
- Now, head back to the “Local” folder and open the “NVIDIA Corporation” folder
- In this folder, locate and open the “NV_Cache” folder and delete the contents of the folder.
- Exit File Explorer, go back to Nvidia Control Panel, and turn on Shader Cache (set to driver standard).
- Restart your PC, continue playing Enshrouded, and the stuttering is now fixed.

And that should fix Enshrouded stuttering on your PC and hopefully give you a performance boost as well. If we made a mistake somewhere, feel free to let us know in the comments section.
