If you’re looking to destroy Anomalies in The Alters then you have come to the right place. In this detailed guide I will give you a complete rundown of everything you need to destroy all types of Anomalies in The Alters.
Destroying anomalies in The Alters starts with crafting the Luminator. All of this is part of the game’s natural progress so when you come across your first anomaly in the game, you can speak with the Scientist to start researching the Luminator.
If we make the long story short, the Luminator is the tool that we use to expose an anomaly’s core to attack it. The goal, no matter what type of anomaly you encounter, is to find and target its core with the Luminator.
Luminator Crafting Recipe
Research the Internal Analysis Tool in the Research Lab and craft the Luminator using 20x metals + 20x rapidium.
How to Destroy Anomalies
With the Luminator in hand, whenever you see an anomaly aim the Luminator at its core (s) and shoot. Note that using the Luminator will drain your suit battery fast so carry back-ups if you can. When an anomaly is destroyed, it drops some ALX which you can then convert into Metals, Organics, and Minerals.
Now let’s get into the specifics, how to destroy each type of anomaly by finding its core. Here’s a summary before we get into the meaty stuff.
Anomaly Type | Description & Strategy |
---|---|
Static Anomaly | Stationary bubbles—avoid or destroy with your Luminator. |
Following Anomaly | Moves toward you—wait until close, then blast its large core. |
Pulsating Anomaly | It has two cores that shrink and expand. Shoot both cores when it contracts. |
Time Dilation Anomaly | Accelerates time; shoot the slow-moving core along the edge. |
Prism Anomaly | Disorienting shards, no radiation. Locate and destroy all 3 cores. |
Energy Gate | Non-destructible field that drains power. Instead, research the Energy Gate Inversion tech. |
Interal Vein (Planetary Samples) | Green anomalies; destroy vein cores to uncover a trail, then destroy the final core for a Planetary Sample. These are used to unlock the Anomaly Shield research. |
How to Destroy Static Anomaly
Static anomalies are the most common and easiest to destroy in The Alters. They don’t move around which makes it easy to target the core with the Luminator but since they are very common, they drain a lot of your battery when you’re out in the world. The best way to deal with the battery issue is to research Fast Crafting to make new batteries on the go.
If you come across multiple Statics then I suggest placing Fast Travel points near then to get back to the base to restock on resources for crafting batteries.

How to Destroy Following Anomaly

The Following Anomaly is a bit annoying but nothing you can’t handle. What it does is slowly follow you around and its core move inside its liquid like transparent body. The core is a bit hard to shoot at if your aim sucks but otherwise, it is a piece of cake.
How to Destroy Pulsating Anomaly

If you see an anomaly that contracts and expands, it is the Pulsating Anomaly. If you get close you get radiation and if keep getting hit you’ll stack up a ton of radiation. To destroy it you need to wait for it to contract and then run into to target both cores as soon as possible before it expands.
It might take a couple of tries to fully shatter the cores, but the goal is to run in to use the Luminator and move out of the way when it expands. Keep repeating the process until both cores are done.
The easiest way to handle Pulsating Anomalies is researching Luminator Range to increase Luminator’s range.
How to Destroy Time Anomaly

Now this one is a bit tough to handle because you will most certainly be losing some time. Time anomalies exist over large areas and are usually spotted when you see floating rocks. To find its core you must run inside the anomaly. The core is typically above your head when you enter the Time Anomaly.
The problem is the that you will be losing time, there is no way around it. Try to have a full battery and a fully upgrade Luminator before going in.
Time inside the Anomaly moves faster if you are closer to the center. So until you see the core, try to stay as close to the edge as possible. You’ll still be losing time but not as much.
How to Destroy Prism Anomaly

The Prism is similar to the Time Anomaly. You have to get inside, find the three cores, and take them out. While time doesn’t move faster inside Prism, you can still end up wasting your time because it is hard to see and aim inside.
Moreover, other types of Anomalies can appear in the Prism so you can end up dealing with more than one type of Anomaly.
