The Buddy System in Fantasy Life i; The Girl Who Steals Time needs Strangelings. These creatures are found all across the game’s world through various means. When you find them, you end up turning them into Human Buddies.
Each Strangeling is tied to a Life for example, Fluffy Beaver Doll (Cherry) is a Carpenter. Since this isn’t a massive open world game, most Strangeling have fixed spawn locations in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time.
You get them through Shrines and quests and then use them to create best recipes, or fight your battles.

While most Strangelings have static locations in the game and are easy to find, some are random drops, making them very hard to get a hold off. Some shrines you visit to find Strangelings might have combat challenges for you to complete.
And as for the random ones, they are often spawned into high-level zones so I suggest you look for them once you reach a higher level.
How to Transform Stranglings in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
| Step | Where/How | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Find Strangelings | Shrines, chests, monsters, quests, story | Exploration, questing |
| Gather Celestia’s Gifts | Base Camp, settlement tasks, debris removal | First islander home needed |
| Use Goddess Statue | At Base Camp | Enough Celestia’s Gifts |
| Recruit Buddy | Guild Office | Transformed Strangeling |
Once you find stranglings, the next thing you need to find are Celestia’s Gifts and I have a complete guide on how to farm them. But here is a summary of the process.
Celestia’s Gifts are special blue flowers used to revert Strangelings to their human form.
They appear in clusters at your Base Camp after placing and building your first islander house.
These flowers bloom every day in real time, often producing 3–6 flowers per cluster. Celestia’s Gifts can also be gathered after clearing debris, completing settlement tasks, and leveling up your camp. Some automation like with the Hagram robot helps in collecting them as you progress.
With the stranglings and Celestia’s Gifts in hand, go to your Base Camp and interact with the Goddess Statue. Choose the option that says “Revert Strangling” and select the Strangling from your collection. Confirm the transformation and it’ll work if you have the required amount of Celestia’s Gifts.
The stranglings will become buddies and can be added to your party at the Guild Office. Once a Strangeling is restored, it stays as a recruitable Buddy and can’t be turned back.
Celestia’s Gifts are limited by their daily regrowth—plan your transformations accordingly, especially if collecting large numbers of Strangelings at once. However, using my Celestia’s Flowers farming guide you can get a ton of them in no time.
How Much Celestia’s Gifts Are Needed to Transform Stranglings
The cost of transformaton depends on your base’s rating:
- 1 Star: 100 Celestia’s Gifts
- 2 Star: 90 Celestia’s Gifts
- 3 Star: 80 Celestia’s Gifts
- 4 Star: 70 Celestia’s Gifts
- 5 Star: 40 Celestia’s Gifts
The higher the rating the lower the cost of strangling transformation.
