Monster Hunter Wilds requires players to prepare before they go out and hunt monsters. To that effect, players have to gather resources to craft and upgrade their armor and weapons. Certain resources have to be gathered by killing specific monsters, like a Sharp Fang. Here is how to get Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where to Find Sharp Fang in MH Wilds?
Sharp Fang can’t be obtained by hunting large monsters in the game. Like Wingdrake Hide, it can only be acquired by hunting small monsters, such as Gajios and Piragill. However, it is not a resource that is hard to find, as you unlock more regions, your sources for the Sharp Fang increase. The following are the monsters that will net you a Sharp Fang by carving them and the region they reside in:
| Monster | Region |
| Gajios | Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest |
| Talioth | Windward Plains |
| Piragill | Scarlet Forest |
| Kranodath | Oilwell Basin |
| Porkeplum | Iceshard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria |
| Guardian Seikret | Ruins of Wyveria |
You can find these monsters by looking for small pink diamonds on the map. Hover over them and the game will tell you which monster it is. Gajios are very easy to find early in Monster Hunter Wilds and can be found in the rivers of the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest. On top of that, a Sharp Fang drop is guaranteed when you kill Gajios. Look for them in the rivers of Area 8 and 10 of Windward Plains.
Aside from Gajios, Talioth and Piragill are another great source for the sharp fang. While they don’t have a guaranteed drop for the particular resource, they also drop other materials that can be used for crafting. On top of that, they reside in less dangerous areas in Monster Hunter Wilds. This means players don’t have to worry about large monsters while farming Talioth and Piragill.
How to Farm Sharp Fang In High Rank Exploration?
Once you complete the game’s main campaign in Low Rank, some regions will be set to High Rank. Once this happens, hunting monsters will net players new loot, which is separate from the one in Low Rank.
While you can’t downgrade the regions to Low Rank, there is a way to farm Sharp Fangs in High Rank exploration. Talk to Alma and start any Low Rank optional quest, which is three-star or lower. Once you start the quest, ignore its objective, find the monsters that drop Sharp Fang, and kill them.
Once you have farmed the Sharp Fang, open the “Missions & Quests” menu and select “Return from Quest”. You will keep all the items you collected but won’t be forced to complete the optional quest.
What Can You Craft with Sharp Fang?
Sharp Fang can be used to craft Talioth Vambraces and the Chatacabra Coil in Monster Hunter Wilds. These are Low Rank armor pieces that can be crafted early in the game.
While it is your choice, choosing to craft Chatacabra Coil is the better option. It gives a modest bump in overall defense but also has water resistance. The latter is particularly useful against Balahara or the apex beast in Chapter 1.
Once you have all the resources, you need a Chatacabra Certificate, which is automatically given to the player as they complete the first story quest, two Chatacabra Scales, and a Chatacabra Jaw to craft Chatacabra Coil.
