Mike Ybarra, a former Xbox Boss, tweeted about the success of PlayStation and claimed that Xbox is now dead. How did we get into this situation? Well, this all began when IGN posted about Sony claiming PlayStation to be their “most successful” generation, with over $136 billion in sales so far.

That’s a pretty big milestone for Sony. But here’s where things get interesting. Mike Ybarra, who was a former Xbox executive, tagged IGN’s post and said:

“But hey, the console market isn’t a successful business. It is if you do it right.”

This message directly targets the current Xbox state to which a random Twitter user, Hell Blazer replied:

“Ahh the bitter ex,” to which Ybarra went to demon mode and replied with “your console is dead.” Ouch, a former Xbox VP saying something like this sounds bitter indeed, but his statement isn’t completely out of line. Xbox is indeed struggling to find ground. I’d argue that’s been the same since the infamous Xbox E3 2013 presser that turned out as a disaster for Xbox One.

But is Xbox dead? Not exactly and Microsoft isn’t giving up on the console marker either, even though it may seem that way. The next Xbox is already in development and is said to have Steam support as well.

But they have a long way to go if they want to catch up to PlayStation at this point. The company needs to trust its first party Xbox Studios and stop cancelling Xbox exclusives.

A big reason why PlayStation and Nintendo are so far ahead is because of their exclusives. That alone gives players a reason to buy them, and that doesn’t seem to be the case with Xbox right now.
