Ghost of Yotei has become a far bigger deal than its predecessor, marking the most recent success story for PlayStation’s first-party offerings. After Sony CFO Lin Tao recently confirmed that the title had sold faster than its predecessor, an analyst has shared a new sales estimate for the game.

Rhyss Elliot from Alinea Analytics states that Ghost of Yotei has now sold 4 million copies in total. This is a significant increase over the official sales figure of 3.3 million units, as of November 2, shared by Sony for the game.

Ghost of Yotei 4 Million Sales

The analyst reports on Twitter that the game sold over 250K copies during the last month alone. He also shared that Sucker Punch Productions’ latest release has accumulated around $300 million in revenue altogether, which he notes is thanks to the higher $70 launch price.

According to Rhyss Elliot, the fact that Ghost of Yotei was sold at full price for four months after its release made it more lucrative for PlayStation compared to Ghost of Tsushima, which went on sale in just 10 weeks. Nonetheless, the title marks a major success story for both PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions.

Also, Ghost of Yotei has yet to make its PC debut. Once this happens, the PC audience will further add to this game’s success, and if Ghost of Tsushima’s performance on the platform is anything to go by, PC gamers will show up in large numbers once the sequel arrives.

Ghost of Yotei’s exact budget remains unknown for now, but the game is said to have cost around the same as its predecessor. Therefore, the analyst notes that even when considering an extreme estimate of $100 million, the PlayStation first-party title has already turned quite a profit.
