You can hunt bounties in Ghost of Yotei to earn some rewards like sword kits, masks, armor pieces, and coins. They serve as small side-missions with sometimes a little twist. Kubo bounty is just like this, where you don’t actually find the person upon reaching the location.
What you do find is just a vessel with a couple of woodblocks. This is where most players get confused, so did I. In this Ghost of Yotei guide, I will tell you how to find and summon the Black Night Kubo in Ghost of Yotei.

Black Night Kubo Location in Ghost of Yotei
Take the bounty quest from Red Crane Inn. The bounty will describe Kubo as A killer dressed in black who haunted Teshio Ridge long before any fox spirit, with a last seen update at a dueling ring in the Sentinel Forest.
When you do reach the dueling ring inside, the Sentinel Forest in Teshio Range, you will see he is nowhere to be found, just a vessel and some woodblocks.
How to Summon Black Night Kubo in Ghost of Yotei
Wear a black armor set and clap the woodblocks at the Black Night Dueling Ring to make Kubo appear. Trying this with a different color armor set will not work.
At this point in the game, you will have unlocked the black color version (Eyes In The Smoke) of the Nine-Tail Armor; use that. Pick up the woodblocks next to the dead body and clap them to trigger a cutscene.
The cutscene involves Kubo mistaking you for a challenger and thinking you are trying to pretend that you are him. He thinks you are trying to claim the name of Black Night Kubo, and obviously, that’s not the case.
After defeating him, you will get 750 coins and Black Night Kubo’s Mask.
