The Halo series, a staple of Microsoft’s Xbox console to this day, returns to the scene next year with a brand new remake. Halo: Campaign Evolved takes players back to where it all began, highlighting the series’ origin with refreshed gameplay and brand new Unreal Engine 5 visuals.
Although this version of Halo ditches the multiplayer experience, it seems this is far from everything the team has in store for players. A new report states that an entire trilogy of remakes is being planned at Halo Studios.
This report comes from Rebs Gaming, who has been quite spot on regarding this series’ leaks in the past. According to his anonymous sources, Halo Studios has plans to remake all three Bungie games.
The leaker was unable to share any further information on these projects, but similar reports from the past suggest that these remakes, like Halo: Campaign Evolved, will skip the series’ multiplayer component to focus on the story.
Because Halo: Campaign Evolved is still several months out, the second and third remakes might not be available to play anytime soon. Indeed, the team has plenty of work to do before it can release the series’ first Unreal Engine 5-powered title.
According to sources, Halo Studios decided to pursue remakes to play it safe and ensure it does not have to deal with yet another divisive entry. In the past, entries like Halo 5 split the community, and even the more well-received titles like Halo Infinite failed to leave their mark.
Therefore, a remake trilogy is a much safer bet for both Microsoft and Halo Studios. Rumor has it that the team is also working on a separate multiplayer project alongside the current remake, so there is a lot to come for Microsoft’s flagship series in the next few years.
