Stranded on a planet trying to survive the periodic planetary rupture cycle, which is basically a core survival loop in StarRupture. Understanding the exact timings of the “Death Wave” can help you plan when to loot, explore, and build your base efficiently, especially when playing solo. The Rupture event isn’t just any random one that happens out of nowhere.

After playing for hours in the game, I have created a clock to measure how long this rupture period lasts in StarRupture, so you don’t have to spend hours trying to find how long you can stay outside of your base safely.

Rupture Timings In StarRupture

The total Rupture cycle is about 50-55 min, which I have divided into four phases. Each phase has its specific time to complete each time the Rupture starts. I have also given what you can do best during these rupture cycles to stay busy.

First Phase: Warning-Incineration (~2 minutes)

In this first phase of star rupture, you will have 2 minutes (120 seconds) as a warning so that you can return to your base. Use this time to:

  • Get back to a habitat module
  • Or quickly build an emergency habitat if you’re far from base

Second Phase: Lockdown Period (~1 minute 30 seconds)

After the warning phase, the planet wipeout starts, and if you managed to escape to your base in time, now you are stuck inside the base for about 1 minuteand 30 seconds( 90 seconds). You cannot exit during this second phase of StarRupture. Use the time to:

  • Eat & hydrate
  • Save the game
  • Organize inventory

Third Phase: Dead Planet Phase (10 minutes)

After the completion of the lockdown phase, the planet becomes completely barren:

  • No aliens
  • No plants
  • No environmental threats

Fourth Phase: Restored Ecosystem (~40 minutes)

In the final and fourth phase that lasts about 40 minutes, the planet’s surface cools down, and vines burn off (caves open). Don’t just jump out immediately, wait for approximately 1-2 min beacsue there might be some residual heat outside.

The whole cycle of Rupture is for about 50-55 minutes.

What happens if you die outside in StarRupture?

So, what will happen if you die? Well, this curious question cost me 25% cut in every resource that I had in my inventory. It’s not important how you die, whether by an enemy or during any Rupture; the cost remains the same -25%. Not just that you lose your weapons as well, but you are left with a pistol only. So, you will have to craft all over again.
