In the Underdocks, you will find the Waterfall Giant boss. This boss challenges players on whether they can make a balanced deck in time for the boss. Defeating this boss requires the perfect choice of cards and timing. If you are struggling to defeat the Waterfall Giant boss in Slay the Spire 2, then this guide is all you need.
How Can I Easily Defeat the Waterfall Giant Boss in Slay the Spire 2?

Waterfall Giant’s key mechanic is called Steam Eruption, represented by the steam cloud icon at the bottom of its health bar. After killing it, Team Eruption will deal its final amount to the player at the end of the next turn. The fight can be a little annoying, as the boss will keep amping up the damage every turn while also slowing down the fight with debuffs and heals.

The good thing is that you won’t have to memorize his attack pattern, as Waterfall Giant does a combination of attacking, blocking, healing, and applying Frail to lower attack. Keep in mind that during all this, the damage on Steam Eruption will be increasing.
Once you’ve killed it, the Waterfall Giant will turn into a bomb, which will explode at the start of your turn. Finish the fight quickly to survive the explosions, as you never know when you might run out of blocks. Using the potions that grant block and dexterity can be helpful.
The best characters to use here are Ironclad and Regent, as the boss can’t do anything about Ironclad’s scaling strength and hard-hitting attacks, while Regent is free to stack up damage on Sovereign Blade.

Defect and Necrobinder are pretty good too, as they also have high damage and defensive tools to protect them from Steam Eruption. However, it all comes down to whether they can pull their ramping cards before the fight.
If you are playing as Defect, you can use a Dualcasted Dark orb, if you somehow ramp up Focus for Lightning. The 0-cost build centered around Claw is also pretty good, though not suggested, as you won’t have all the core pieces in the early game.
For Necrobinder, her Ethereal cards have many high-damaging but low-cost attacks that can easily finish Waterfall Giant. Builds centered around ramping up Osty and Unleash can easily deplete the boss’s HP with a few turns of setup.

Silent won’t do well against Waterfall Giant, considering most of his gameplay is built on attrition and defence, too. Two immovable objects mean that this fight will stall in later turns. He has good defensive options to survive the final explosion. Use cards with Poison effects like Bouncing Flask, Envenom, and Poisoned Stab, as these can add up fast to easily eat up the boss’s health.
That’s all for this Slay the Spire 2 guide on how to defeat the Waterfall Giant. Hope that you found this guide helpful. For more on the game, see our other guides for Slay the Spire 2.
