A Drop of Hope Side Quest Walkthrough
Make your way to the northern portion of the Tenryu River. Here, you will need to find the spirit hanging around. Head to the Hamamatsu Gate shrine along the cliffside to see a floating, golden spirit with a golden core. Interact with it to start the quest.
You will be required to retrieve a medicine from bandits in the nearby woods. Go southwest along the road until you reach a small campfire with several enemies standing guard. I suggest that you first kill the archer on the rocks with your bow or rifle, as they will trouble you a lot.
Kill him and head inside the camp. Defeat the remaining bandits around the campfire. Beware of the guard hiding behind the destroyed building, which may not be easily seen if you’re approaching from the north. All you have to do is sneak around the campfire and stealth kill him so you can focus on the head bandit alone.
After clearing the camp, interact with the nearest corpse to the fire and retrieve the Physick medicine. Now, the spirit will be urging you to bring the medicine to his sickly wife somewhere in the town outside of Hamamatsu Castle.
Follow the southern road from where the campfire was located. After arriving at the Hamamatsu Post Terrace shrine, find a small home with a large yokai holding a sword standing out front. That’s a mini-boss called Yoki that you will need to kill. Be prepared, as Yoki is not like any enemy that you will frequently encounter throughout the game. The fight starts, and you will need to block his strikes before countering.
How to Deal with Yoki in the A Drop of Hope Quest
He will mostly just do basic slashes and a Burst Break that you can counter. Considering Yoki is a mini-boss, you can stunlock him with attacks. Continue to pressure Yoki between his attacks to make sure his ki meter depletes rapidly. This gets easier if you are using the samurai form. This form will give you enough time to kill Yoki if you have your Living Artifact.
Once you have killed him, make your way to the house he was guarding and interact with the dead body. Now, the medicine will be delivered, and you will get some rewards. This will conclude the A Drop of Hope quest. It’s highly recommended that you complete this quest before launching an actual attack on Hamamastu Castle, as you’ll want to be at least Level 12 or 13 to defeat the tougher yokai roaming around.
