The crafting of gems in Dynasty Warriors Origins revolves around Pyroxene. You need get your hands on Pyroxene and then turn it into gems.
When equipped, Pyroxene gems give you passive abilities depending the gem you have equipped. Gems become really helpful when you’re playing on higher difficulties.
Gem crafting becomes available after joining Liu Bei’s Volunteer Army in Chapter 1. You’ll receive a letter from Zhang Fei introducing Gems and Pyroxene, unlocking the “Create Gems” option at Inns or Tents.
How to Craft Gems
Gem crafting requires Pyroxene, and can be done at any Inn/tent in the game. First, just enter your room and tap on the second option from the top, “Create Gems,” and keep tapping on that to create gems. The five possible gems are static, and each Pyroxene you use makes one gem at a one-to-one ratio. Each bit of Pyroxene gives you an opportunity to yield any of these gems:

When you create a gem for the very first time, it starts off as a level 1 gem and can instantly be equipped through your Battle Preparations menu. Other gems of that type that you find don’t just increase your collection of gems — they also increase your original gem, granting it XP, leveling it up and increasing its strength with each upgrade.
However, if you don’t mind crafting and upgrading a group of gems at random, you can feel free to use all of your Pyroxene at once.
The downside is that if you want a specific gem, crafting a single gem might trigger an effect called “Eyes of the Sacred Bird.” This limits the options to three gems for all Pyroxene you spend after that at random.
If you don’t want to have this restriction, you can cancel it by leaving and entering the gem crafting menu again. Creating individual knowledge gems one-by-one may be a slower process, but it allows you to maybe lock in the gem you’re going for.
Where to Find Pyroxene in Dynasty Warriors Origins
On the world map, pyroxene appears as orange clusters of crystals. These respawn after you leave/re-enter regions or finish battles. The Eyes of the Sacred Bird lets you highlight Pyroxene nodes easily.
Most of the Pyroxene is found in regions like Ji Province and Qing Province so prioritize these two regions when looking for Pyroxene.
Fast Travel Pyroxene Farming Exploit
Using the fast travel system you can keep cycling through provinces. For example, In Ji Province collect nodes near the southern bridge, then fast-travel to reset. And in the Qing Province gather crystals north of the city gate, then rotate through adjacent regions.
