In The Alters, to survive, you complete different tasks during your stay on a planet. These tasks include building a base, expanding it and researching new technologies, collecting resources and crafting them accordingly. Each task requires certain resources to consume. Polymer is one such resource that is required to build anchors in The Alters. You will be asked to build these bridge anchors in the task “The Path Ahead”.
As The Path Ahead is part of the main story, you can’t skip it.

How To Craft Polymers in The Alters
After spending quite some time playing anchors, JAN SCIENTIST(meaning yourself) will ask you to craft these superconductive polymers, that is a key component in building bridge anchors. Crafting polymers is a time-consuming process, so once you get the task, you’d better start working on it.
To craft polymers, complete these tasks in the respective order
- Build Refinery
- Gather Minerals and Organics
- Craft Polymers
Build Refinery
Go to the base building module and build a refinery from there. To build a refinery in The Alters, you need 40 metals.
Gather Minerals and Organics
To gather minerals and organic, fast travel to the sites on the map locations that I have pointed out below. Place mining rigs to gather either of the resources to collect them.
Craft Polymers
Finally, after gathering all the required resources, head back to the base in The Alters and from the Production Menu select “Refinery.” You will have three options:
- Metals And Organics
- Polymers
- ALX to organics
Crafting Recipe of Polymers in The Altars: Each package of 10 polymers requires 20x Minerals and 20x Organics, and you need 20 of them to build bridge anchors. The estimated time to complete the production of polymers is 2 hours.
