Among the annoying bosses of Slay the Spire 2, there’s Soul Fysh, which is one of the bosses of the alternate Act 1, Underdocks. The reason it’s too annoying is its status cards, Beckon, which deal unblockable damage. The plan here is to exhaust the status cards and deal sizable damage without prolonging the encounter. This Slay the Spire 2 guide will take you through how you can easily defeat Soul Fysh.
Beating Soul Fysh in Slay the Spire 2
Soul Fysh has a 5-turn attack pattern. The boss repeats this pattern like most bosses, consisting of debuffs, status effects, and even invulnerability.

Early on, Soul Fysh will put one Beckon in your discard pile and one in your draw pile. This status card will cost 1 Energy. However, if you fail to exhaust it, then it will do 6 damage during your turn. This damage can’t be blocked, so it’s best to remove them rather than try to block them when you get them in your hand. Before it inflicts the Beckons, you can cast whatever damage you can.

On the next turn, the boss will deal over 15 damage. If you didn’t get any Beckon in your hand, you can block some of this and keep attacking. In the next two turns, you can go full offensive mode. Deal as much damage as you can and ensure you discard any Beckons that you get. An extremely useful card here would be the Regent’s Reflect. That’s because your block essentially deals damage, and you can easily discard status cards.

On the third turn, Soul Fysh will deal less than 10 damage and give another status card to the player’s draw pile. The damage’s not that heavy, so just focus on attacking. Use as many attacks as you can, as you won’t be able to make risky moves later on due to low HP.

Soul Fysh will buff itself with Intangible for one turn. During this state, all damage that Soul Fysh takes is reduced to 1, meaning no heavy attacks will work. Just deal whatever damage you can before it casts the buffs, and don’t forget to leave some blocks in your draw pile because you will use them in the next turn.

During the 5th turn, it will set itself up to debuff you for 3 Vulnerable and deal over 10 damage in its turn. Your main focus here should be blocking its attack and discarding whatever Beckons you may have in your hand.
How to Deal with Soul Fysh’s Second Rotation in Slay the Spire 2

On the 6th turn, Soul Fysh’s second rotation will begin, which will be slightly different this time because of the 3 Vulnerable inflicted on you. Now, tanking isn’t an option. The boss will probably be very low, which will make it easier to find an opening to deal the finishing blow. The strategy this time would be to block incoming damage, discarding Beckons, and finding that opening.
Use cards like Acrobatics and Burning Pact to discard or exhaust the Beckons in the aggressive turns.
That’s how you defeat Soul Fysh in Slay the Spire 2. I hope that this guide has helped you. For more on the game, also see our other guides for Slay the Spire 2.
