A Large Force is a show of power in Dynasty Warriors: Origins and you will often be using it. Large Force is a massive gathering of foot soldiers and officers at a single location on the battle map.

This force is sometimes created around a large, powerful enemy, while other times it descends upon a mission objective to meet win conditions, such as taking our structures or high-ranking officers.

I have no doubt that you cannot progress in this game without learning how a large force works and how to disband it when the time comes.

How Large Forces Work in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Large Forces consist of numerous footsoldiers and several officers, often organized around a powerful enemy officer or a strategic location on the battlefield, such as city gates or escape routes.

They can appear from the start of a mission or form over time as conditions change, such as the arrival of reinforcements or the spawning of important enemy officers.

Forming A Large Force

Large forces are formed on their own. Sometimes they appear from the start of a mission or are formed dynamically as the battle goes on. You will get in-game notifications when a Large Force is formed, and it will get marked on your map.

Large Forces can form under various conditions:

  • Reinforcements: Smaller enemy groups may converge into a Large Force when certain conditions are met, such as the arrival of additional officers or troops.
  • Mission Triggers: Specific scripted events, like the appearance of a high-ranking officer or supply deliveries, can lead to the formation of a Large Force.

When a Large Force is formed against you, enemy morale can get high. When you fight with enemy’s Large Force you will experience increase courage of enemy units which makes them harder to beat no matter what difficulty you are own.

How to Disband a Large Force

There is a clear process that leads to disbanding of a Large Force. You clear a path, take down officers, attack shield bearers, and target lower-level enemies.

Open the map and identify any nearby bases where allied officers are fighting. Take down the base leader and some troops to encourage allies to follow you back to the Large Force.

Crowd Control

Start by targeting footsoldiers on the outer edges of the Large Force. This will help you create a pathway into the center where more powerful enemy officers are located.

AoE attacks that deal damage within a large area are best when it comes to crowd control within a Large Force. For example, using a sword, execute four light slashes followed by two heavy ones for an aerial attack that can hit multiple enemies.

Musou attacks are really effective for crowd control and help reduce enemy numbers.

Target footsoldiers at the outer edges of the Large Force to create a clear path into the center where more powerful officers are fighting.

Take Down Shield Bearers

If there are shield bearers defending the formation, focus on staggering them by attacking a small section of their wall until you receive the command to Assault. This will allow you to break through their defenses get to the footsoldiers and officers.

Taking On Officers

You can take down footsoldiers to get access to the officers, but enemy officers are your only ticket to putting a big dent into the Large Force.

The Large Force has a health bar that decreases as you defeat enemies. Regular footsoldiers contribute little, but defeating enemy officers significantly impacts this bar.

I recommend that you clear a path on at least one side of the Large Force before targeting officers. This way you can’t get overwhelmed.

Continue taking down officers and footsoldiers until the Large Force’s health bar reaches zero. Once depleted, most footsoldiers will run away scared, leaving only a few officers that are easier to take down.
