Gestures and emotes are back in Elden Ring Nightreign and they work pretty much the same way they did before. You start the game with a default set of emotes / gestures in your inventory. As over time you can unlock new emotes / gestures but how?
The process is pretty simple but won’t work until you beat the first Expedition boss, Tricephalos.
How to Use Emotes in Elden Ring Nightreign

Open the main menu or pause menu:
- PC: Press the ‘1’ key or click the emote icon on the right side of your screen.
- PlayStation: Press the Triangle button.
- Xbox: Press the Y button.
This brings up the gesture menu. Select the emote you want to use:
- PC: Left-click on the desired emote.
- PlayStation: Press the Cross (X) button.
- Xbox: Press the A button
Note: Emotes are your main form of communication in Nightreign, as the game does not support voice or text chat.
One thing to note here is that emotes will lock you into an animation and most of these animations can’t be cancelled. So avoid mocking a boss in the middle of the battle.
How to Unlock New Emotes and Gestures in Elden Ring Nightreign

To unlock new emotes you must beat the first Expedition boss, Tricephalos. The victory gives you access to the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold.
NPC who runs the Small Jar Bazaar sells new emotes for 200 Murk each. Murk is now the primary currency in the game so farm it wherever you can.
As you beat more Nightlords either in multiplayer or offline mode, new emotes will become available for sale at the Small Jar Bazaar.
If an emote / gesture you want isn’t available at the Small Jar Bazaar, complete new Expeditions and beat bosses, and then check back with the merchant.
