The Goodbye, Gengar side mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A sends players on the quest to find a missing Gengar.
This is one of the easier side missions in the game and requires following a series of steps to complete before earning the rewards of the quest. Here’s a complete guide to completing Goodbye, Gengar.
Unlock Goodbye, Gengar
First, you must complete the prerequisites to unlock Side Mission 118: Goodbye, Gengar. The prerequisites include reaching Main Mission 39 and speaking to Vinnie and Jett after beating the main story. Similarly, Side Mission 117 needs to be completed to unlock Goodybe, Gengar.
Once these conditions are met, head to the Old Building in Bleu Sector 9 and simply speak to Ganger to initiate the mission. Note that you can fast travel to Cafe Soleil to reach this location quickly.
Visit Gwynn At the Justice Dojo
After talking to Ganger, head over and find Gwynn at the Justice Dojo. Simply fast-travel to this location and talk to Gwynn to progress the mission. Here, Gwynn will first challenge you to a battle before agreeing to help.
Gwynn is a Ghost-type Pokemon specialist and uses the following team: Banette, Gengar, Froslass, Gourgeist, and Mega Chandelure, all of whom are level 69 or above. It’s best to use a strong team here with Dark-type Pokemon for an easy victory.
Once this battle is over, talk to Gwynn, and she will use Chandelure to reveal that Gengar might be at Hotel Richissime.
Head To Hotel Richissime
For the next part of this Side Mission, fast travel to Hotel Richissime and talk to Gwynn. Here, Chandelure will attempt to look for Gengar only to find it missing from the location.
Chandelure will then conclude that Gengar is located toward a secluded waterway in Vert Sector 9.
Move To Vert Sector 9
Find the quest marker in Vert Sector 9 near Cafe Classe. Before you proceed, make sure to bring a Pokemon with a Fighting-type move like Rock Smash to clear boulders blocking the path.
Chandelure will once again try to sense Gengar after you reach Vert Sector 9, but you must visit one more location before you can finally find Gengar and complete the Side Mission. After the cutscene plays out, head to the Shopping Arcade.
Proceed To The Shopping Arcade
Fast travel to locations like Restaurant Le Wow or Centrico Pokemon Center and then the shopping arcade to complete Side Mission 118.
Speak to Gwynn and trigger the final cutscene to find Gengar and complete the quest. Upon completion of the quest, you will earn 2 L Exp. Candies, 1 XL Exp. Candy, as well as 4000 Pokemon Dollars.
