Disable AMD Trusted Module (fTPM) in BIOS
AMD Trusted Module (fTPM) is enabled in the BIOS by default for security purposes. It’s crashing Ghost Of Tsushima with the “0x887A0006: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG” error.
Disable fTPM in the BIOS and the the error will be fixed. Multiple PC users report that disabling fTPM fixed Ghost Of Tsushima’s DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error.

XMP is a BIOS setting for Intel CPUs that ensures the RAM performs at its best. If you have enabled the XMP profile in the BIOS or have overclocked RAM, it’s crashing Ghost Of Tsushima with the 0x887A0006 DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error.
Disable the XMP profile or revert the RAM to its default clock speed to fix the error.
Restore Default BIOS Settings
If you have changed BIOS settings, especially, related to CPU power for Inte’l’s 13 and 14 generation CPUs, it’s crashing Ghost Of Tsushima with error 0x887A0006. Intel and Nixxes have noted that overclocked or modified power settings for these CPUs crash Ghost Of Tsushima.
Restore the default power setting and the BIOS settings to fix error 0x887A0006.
Setup Windows Timeout Detection and Recovery
Ghost Of Tsushima’s DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG 0x887a0006 error occurs when Windows Timeout Detection and Recovery perceives the GPU driver stalling and shuts it down. In reality, the driver isn’t stalling.
I fixed the DXGI error by creating the TdrLevel file in the Windows Registry that resets the GPU driver when Windows TDR detects a stall. Follow the steps below to fix Ghost Of Tsushima’s DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG 0x887a0006 error.
- Type regedit in Windows search and run it as an administrator.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> GraphicsDrivers.
- Right-click in the right panel in the ‘blank space’ and Select New In Windows Registry.
- Select DWORD (32-bit) Value and name the file TdrLevel.
- Double-click TdrLevel and select Modify.
- Confirm that the value is 0
- Restart your PC.
- Play Ghost Of Tsushima and error 0x887a0006 is fixed.

Disable GPU Overclock

Enable Debug Mode
Most graphics cards from AIB partners like Zotac are factory overclocked or use higher GPU and Memory clocks compared to reference models.
This is crashing Ghost Of Tsushima with the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error. Enable the Debug Mode in the Nvidia Control Panel and the graphics card will use Nvidia’s recommended GPU and Memory clocks.
Open the Nvidia Control Panel > Help > Debug Mode. This will fix Ghost Of Tsushima’s error 0x887a0006.

If you are playing Ghost Of Tsushima at an unlocked FPS, it’s crashing the game to the desktop with the 0x887a0006 error message. Fix the error by limiting the game’s Max FPS as it reduces the GPU and CPU load.
I don’t recommend using the in-game FPS limiter as they often cause bad frame pacing. Use the Nvidia Control Panel.
- Open the Nvidia Control Panel.
- Click “Manage 3D Settings” and open the Program Settings tab.
- Select Ghost Of Tsushima from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down, enable Max Frame Rate, and set a value.
- Play Ghost Of Tsushima and the 0x887a0006 error is fixed.
Note: Unless you use a Freesync or G.sync display, your Max Frame Limit should be 1/2, 1/3rd, or 1/4th of your monitor’s refresh rate. Otherwise, the game will feel jittery.
