An issue that pops up even now is Remnant 2 DX12 not supported error. If you are one of the people still plagued with this error then the good news is there are things you can do to fix the DX12 not supported error in Remnant 2.

5 Possible Ways to Fix Remnant 2 DirectX 12 Not Supported on PC

When the game is launched players usually get the following error message:

DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line augment.

The error can be caused by outdated drivers, outdated hardware, compatibility issues, among other things.

Fix #1: Update GPU Drivers

The most basic thing can often be the best solution. Nvidia has released drivers for Remnant 2 that offer better compatibility so if you haven’t updated your drivers in a while then it is best to do it for both Nvidia and AMD GPUs.

You can down the latest driver versions via GeForce Experience or AMD Software. Same can be done by downloading the latest versions of the company’s official website.

Fix #2: Modify Launch Options

A very well know fix for DX12 not supported issue is modifying the launch options for Remnant 2. Go to Steam Library and right click on the game. Go to Properties and then in the General tab you should find the Launch Options bar.

First, try typing -d3d12 and run the game. If that doesn’t work, try -d3d11 in the launch options. One of these option should work for you.

Fix #3: Verify Game File Integrity

Often due to certain updates or while downloading the game files something breaks. It is best to check if your game files are corrupted.

For Steam, verify the files by following these steps.

  • Enter Steam Library
  • Right-click on Remnant 2 and enter properties
  • Go to the Local File tab
  • Click on Verify integrity of game files
  • If new files are downloaded again, restart your PC to be safe

For Epic games, verify the files by following these steps.

  • Enter Epic Library
  • Search for Remnant 2, and lick on the options icon (those three dots)
  • Click on Verify and wait for the launcher to verify game files

Fix #4: Force DX12

One of the ways you can deal with DX12 not supported on Remnant 2 is by forcing it to run DX12. This is known to resolve the issue for most players on PC. To do this, you need to:

  • Enter Steam library
  • Right-click on Remnant 2 and enter Properties
  • In Properties, go to the General tab, and into the Launch options
  • Here, type “-d2d12”
  • Relaunch the game

This is the same process we discussed above but instead of testing both 11 and 12, only force DX12 in the launch options.

Fix #5: Update DX12 in Remnant 2

Usually, DX12 is auto updated when you install a game that requires it. However, if something break it may not update. In that case you need to manually update your DX12 version. You can install the latest DX12 version from the official Microsoft website.

Make sure to also update C++ Redistributable.
