Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds is a rare creature you can catch in the Scarlet Forest. You first need to learn fishing and then head to a certain part of the Scarlet Forest where you can catch Grand Escunite under water.

  • Quest: Accept “Razzle Dazzle” from Kayna at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp (unlocked after completing prior quests).
  • Bait: Use the Tentacle Jig provided by Kayna.
  • Location: Underground Lake (Area 8) in Scarlet Forest.
  • Time/Season: Evening or Nighttime during the Season of Plenty.

Note: Change season and time of day according to the requirements I listed above.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Grand Escunites appear in the Scarlet Forest where you can also find the Escunites.

To catch a Grand Escunite, however, you will need a Tentacle Jig, which you receive from Kayna when you get the “Razzle Dazzle” side-quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.

If you want to encounter Grand Escunites, you should go to the Underground Lake in Area 8 of the Scarlet Forest during the morning of the Season of Plenty.

Build a pop-up camp in that area—it makes shuttling back and forth (or even swapping seasons as needed) far easier than making the full trek back to Base Camp.

Grand Escunites are shaped a bit like Nautili—a shelled, tentacled ocean creature—and they’re unique among the other aquatic creatures because they don’t really look like fish in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Unlike regular Escunites, these are larger, with a more vivid blue color, and appear as a triangle with some tentacles protruding from the side when viewed at a distance.

As soon as you see one spawn (most likely during the Season of Plenty in this region), simply pull your line a couple of times until it latches onto your hook and then reel it in quickly.

That’s how to get Grand Escunite in MH Wilds.
