How to Get a Horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
There three ways to get a horse:
- Steal
- Get free from Horse trader
- Get free from story progress
#1: Steal a Horse
After you go through early sections of the game, you will get access to the open world of the game. You need to wait until “Wedding Crashers” quest until that happens. When you reach “Wedding Crashers,” you unlock the open world and the first area you visit is Troskowitz town in the Trosky region.
Immediately, you steal a horse from the paddock in the south of the town.

#2: Free Horse from Horse Trader

There is horse named Pebbles in Semine, a small town southwest of Troskowitz. Go near the gray horse and hold down L1 to interact with it. Then you need to speak with the horse trader nearby and select Pebbles. If you have 7 Speach you can get Pebbles for free by saying “be reasonable.”
Otherwise, you need to pay him.
#3: Free Horse in Back in the Saddle Quest
During quest 7, Back in the Saddle, you get a free horse named “Herring” free of cost. Since you can only have one horse at a time you need to choose between Pebbles or Herring.
How to Buy a Horse
The horse Trader we discussed above, who is in Semine can sell you a horse for 150 Groschen. You can pick any horse you want as long as you have 150 Groschen. Of course, you can do some negotiations to get a better rate.
