Fort Gardhart is an important location Fantasy Life i because it is not only a part of the game’s story but also it holds a couple of secrets, and even a legendary crafting recipe.
It is possible to skip this location for a better part of the game but since you can collect important items and clearing the fort will weaken the final boss, I highly recommend making sure you get it done.

Fort Gardhart is in West Greatgut Plains pretty much in the middle of the map of Ginormosia. You can refer to the image above for the exact location of Fort Gardhart.
Initially, you can’t enter the Fort because the area is blocked off. To enter you need to complete a few requirements.
How to Unlock Fort Gardhart in Fantasy Life i
When you reach Fort Gardhart the first you wonder is how to open the Fort. Well, you need to complete a certain number of Shrines of Light. Shrines are all over the map but you need to complete 20 of them to bring down the forcefield blocking Fort Gardhart.
The game’s story actually guides you on this, tell you when exactly you should go to Fort Gardhart.
So your job until you get the notification to go there is to keep completing Shrines, and lastly get the Feather.
Fort Gardhart is an optional dungeon but highly recommended to clear before the final quest, as it makes the final boss fight easier.
You will be prompted about Fort Gardhart’s optional status during the main quest, particularly in Chapter 7. The game will warn you that this is your last chance to clear the fort before facing the final boss.
