Just like Prometheans are exclusive to the Atlanteans, Minotaur Units are exclusive to the Greeks. Since Minotaurs are unique to the Greeks, make sure you select the Greek civilization when you start Age of Mythology ReTold.
In this guide, I will walk you through the process of unlocking, upgrading, and training Minotaur Units in AoM ReTold.
How to Unlock the Minotaur
If you would like to unlock the Minotaur, then you need to choose Athena as the minor God in the game. This choice becomes available when you reach the Heroic Age.
In addition, you can only unlock the Minotaur by selecting either Zeus or Poseidon to as the primary God. This means that Minotaur will not be playable for players that choose other major gods.
Focus on gathering resources and developing your economy to help you push through the Archaic and Classical Ages as fast as you can.
Once you’re in the Heroic Age, select Athena for your minor god. And thus you gain the ability to train the Minotaur.

The following are the stats for Minotaur in Age of Mythology Retold:

How to Build Minotaur Units
When you reach the Classical Age you get a free Minotaur Unit but from there on you need to build the units yourself at the temple.
You will need the following resources to build Minotaur Units:
- 150 Gold
- 14 Favor
You also need three free population spots for these units.
Training & “Hiding” Your Minotaurs
In the temple’s tech tree, pick the Minotaur upgrade. This “unlocks” the ability to train them.
The Temple can hold your Minotaurs, and you will want to “hide” them in the build order.
Click the “rally point” inside the temple so that enemy scouts cannot tell if the temple is producing a relic or a Minotaur. Hide 4 Minotaurs in your temple, so when your opponent scouts, those tanky units will take them by surprise.
How to Upgrade Minotaurs to Bull Minotaurs
Research the “Labyrinth of Mino” upgrade. This technology upgrades your Minotaurs into Bull Minotaurs. This upgrades gives makes them faster and have more hitpoints.
