In Europa Universalis V, things are not always friendly with your neighbors; sometimes you have to fight for either resources or to gain control over others. You need Levies for that.

Levies are Temporary military manpower that helps you during war. The Levies number is directly affected by your population and some other factors as well in Europa Universalis V.

These Levies are local troops available only during wartime. They are more like citizen soldiers raised from your control province.

How To Increase Levies In Europa Universalis V

As Levies are like a standby army rather than a regular army that is always available to fight. It mostly depends on the population directly, but you can also increase levies by controlling other factors as well. These factors that can increase Levies in Europa Universalis V are :

  • Population
  • Estate Satisfaction
  • Extend Control

Method # 1 (Population)

One of the best ways to get more Levies in Europa Universalis V is to increase your population size. To do so increases food production that will eventually affect the population number.

Method # 2(Estate Satisfaction)

Another way of raising Levies in Europa Universalis V is by raising the Estate Satisfaction level, which can be done by granting privileges to that state. Granting privilege will keep them happy due to which you can also get more taxes as well.

To even increase Levies from a population, you minimum need the estate satisfaction of 25% as well; if that’s not achieved, you can’t even add the population to your Levies.

Method # 3 (Extend Control)

Extending your control over other locations will also enable you to recruit more Levies from other locations. To gain control, you need better infrastructure, build roads and bridges, and improve your capital.

This will enable you to use more manpower. In case you lose control over a location, people will join rebels that can’t be recruited as Levies in Europa Universalis V

If you do all this, you can get as many Levies for your fight as you want. But that doesn’t mean to keep recruiting them all the time.

Because these are part of your population, recruiting them in long fights will reduce your resources because the same people are doing some other work as well. Almost 20% of the raw material and food production decreases when you recruit them as Levies.
