Dynasty Warriors: Origins has a massive open world and while you can fast travel, the best way to experience scenery is using a horse and especially if you are going after collectibles like the Old Coins.

Horses are also great for battles so getting new horses and levelling up your current stable should be a focus. You will receive your first horse after reaching Chapter 1 of the game.

After completing the “Test of Zheng Fei” mission, head northeast from Wan Castle. You will encounter a merchant NPC on your way to the Battle of Guangzong. Interact with this NPC, and he will gift you your first horse, known as Walnut.

To get new horses you need to bring peace to the max of each region. As each region gets max peace, you will get a new horse every time.

When a region’s peace level reaches its maximum, you can interact with the fast travel waypoint nearby to receive a new mount.

How to Level Up horses in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Horses gain experience points (XP) through battles and skirmishes. They do not need to be actively used in combat to gain XP; simply having them equipped will suffice. The amount of XP gained can vary based on mission length and how much you use the horse during battles.

Each new horse you unlock comes with a unique perk that aids in combat. So, it is recommended that you unlock as many horses as possible to get their perks.
